Bilateral relationship France - Morocco
Due to strong historic and cultural
links, Morocco is usually considered as a privilege French partner. During the
two last Moroccan-French head of state meetings which took place in Fès and Marrakech
the 4th and 5th November 1999, both parts agreed on a strengthening of bilateral
relationships and to prorogate the partnerships.

On a foreign policy level, Morocco expects a strong support from France concerning
the Occidental Sahara.
France is also involved in the improvement of Moroccan administration efficiency
and, as the first trade partner and investor, it is implementing programs to develop
infrastructures. However France remains the privileged commercial partner, Moroccan
witness an increasing interested for other partners and investors.
Morocco is part and parcel of the Priority Solidarity Zone (ZSP) and enjoys financing
funds from the emerging markets reserve. French APD to Morocco evolved over the
past years to take in consideration the progresses of a society characterised
by the coexistence of an emerging modern sector and a rural sector still looking
for development means. The annual APD reaches approximately $ 235 millions.
